RES 17-003RESOLUTIONNO.17-003ARESOLUTIONauthorizingtheadoptionoftheClarkRegionalNaturalHazardMitigationPlan.WHEREAS,allofClarkCountyhasexposuretonaturalhazardsthatincreasetherisktolife,property,environmentandtheCounty’seconomy;andWHEREAS,pro-activemitigationofknownhazardsbeforeadisastereventcanreduceoreliminatelong-termrisktolifeandproperty;andWHEREAS,TheDisasterMitigationActof2000(PublicLaw106-390)establishednewrequirementsforpre-andpost-disasterhazardmitigationprograms;andWHEREAS,acoalitionofClarkCounty,Cities,TownsandSpecialPurposeDistrictswithlikeplanningobjectiveshasbeenformedtopoolresourcesandcreateconsistentmitigationstrategieswithintheClarkRegionalplanningarea;andWHEREAS,thecoalitionhascompletedaplanningprocessthatengagedthepublic,assessedtheriskandvulnerabilitytotheimpactsofnaturalhazards,developedamitigationstrategyconsistentwithasetofuniformgoalsandobjectives,andcreatedaplanforimplementing,evaluatingandrevisingthisstrategy;NOW,THEREFORE,BEITRESOLVEDthattheCounciloftheCityofCamas:1)Adoptsinitsentirety,Volume1andtheintroduction,chapter3theCamasjurisdictionalannex,andtheappendicesofVolume2oftheClarkRegionalNaturalHazardMitigationPlan(NHMP).2)WillusetheadoptedandapprovedportionsoftheNHMPtoguidepre-andpost-disastermitigationofthehazardsidentified.3)WillcoordinatethestrategiesidentifiedintheNHMPwithotherplanningprogramsandmechanismsunderitsjurisdictionalauthority.
