A RESOLUTION declaring an emergency due to
Landslide conditions on Forest Home Road.
WHEREAS,the City of Camas has reported to the City Council,that beginning on
January 3,2006,unusual weather conditions,consisting of heavy rain and wind ,have caused a
disaster by creating an extensive land and debris slide on Forest Home Road;and
WHEREAS,Forest Home Road has been closed,extensive damage has occurred and is
still occurring to the hillside above Forest Home Road and to Forest Home Road ;and
WHEREAS,there is a present emergency which necessitates activation of the City of
Camas Emergency Preparedness Plan and utilization of emergency powers granted pursuant to
RCW 36.40 .180 and RCW 38.52.070(2),therefore
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAMAS AS FOLLOWS:
Section I
It is hereby declared that there is an emergency due to landslide conditions in the City of
Camas.Therefore,designated departments are authorized to enter into contracts and incur
obligations necessary to combat such disaster,protect the health and safety of persons and
property,and provide emergency assistance to the victims of such disaster,if needed.
Section II
Each designated department is authorized to exercise the powers vested under Section 1
of this resolution in the light of the urgency of an emergency situation without regard to time-
consuming procedures and formalities prescribed by law (excepting mandatory constitutional
requirements).
