RES 993RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION establishing a fee for controlled bums
conducted by the Fire Department.
WHEREAS,the Camas Fire Department is periodically requested by property owners to
burn down a dilapidated structure,and
WHEREAS,such controlled burns provide a good training exercise for Fire Department
personnel,and
WHEREAS,the cost of a controlled burn is often less than the cost of demolition and
removal,and
WHEREAS,the Fire Department incurs significant overtime and other expenses in
conducting a controlled burn,and
WHEREAS,the City Council desires to recoup some of the expense in conducting
controlled bums,
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAMAS AS FOLLOWS:
Section I
Any property owner requesting the Fire Department to conduct a controlled bum of a
structure shall pay a fee of $0.50 per square foot with a minimum charge of $1,000.00 and a
maximum charge of $2,000.00.
