A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor to sign and approvingthe“Clark County All Hazard Mitigation Plan”written to meet therequirementsofFederalPublicLaw106-390 ,the Disaster MitigationActof2000.
WHEREAS,The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP)is a program managed by the State
of Washington to administer funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA);and
WHEREAS,The intent of the HMPG is to reduce the risk of future damage,hardship,loss or
suffering caused by major disasters by providing financial support to carry out cost-effective hazard
mitigation projects and plans as required of state and local governments as a condition of receiving
federal disaster and emergency management assistance;and
WHEREAS,After the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake,Clark was one of the counties in
Washington to receive a presidential disaster declaration and with this declaration,Clark became
eligible to apply for the HMGP;and
WHEREAS,CRESA acting as the HMGP applicant on behalf of Clark County and the Cities
of Battle Ground ,Camas,LaCenter,Ridgefield,Washougal ,Vancouver,and Yacolt requested funding
for a “Clark County All Hazard Mitigation Plan”under one grant application;and
WHEREAS,CRESA was advised by FEMA the application is approved ,whose funds were
used to complete the “Clark County All Hazard Mitigation Plan.”
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMAS
AS FOLLOWS:
1.The “Clark County All Hazard Mitigation Plan”fulfills the Disaster Mitigation Act of
2000 requirements for Camas.This plan defines each hazard,assesses the risks of the hazard ,and
defines the specific mitigation actions that Camas can take to reduce loss in the event of a hazard
event.
2.The “Clark County All Hazard Mitigation Plan”is hereby approved by the City of Camas,
and the Mayor is hereby authorized to sign the same on behalf the City.
