RES 869MRESOLUTIONNO.
A RESOLUTION declaring an emergency and providing for the
repair of an 18-inch sanitary sewer main without submitting the
project to competitive bids.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMAS AS FOLLOWS:
Section I
The Council makes the following findings :
a.A section of the City’s 18-inch sanitary sewer main located between SE
Garfield and the north line of the Burlington Northern Railroad is severely cracked and broken.
b.There is approximate 94 feet of said sanitary sewer main that needs to be
replaced.
c.The existing damage to the sanitary sewer main has impeded the flow of
sewage.There is exfiltration of sewage material into the ground and infiltration of storm water
into the sanitary sewer line.
d.The sanitary sewer main in question serves approximately three quarters of the
City of Camas.
e.Repair of the damaged section of the sewer line needs to be undertaken
immediately,because any further damage to the line may result in sewage backing up into houses
and sewage overflowing into the Washougal River.
Section II
Based upon the foregoing findings,the Council hereby declares the existence of an
emergency and directs that the repair of the sanitary sewer main be undertaken immediately
without submitting the project for competitive bids.
ADOPTED by the Council at a regular meeting of the Council of the City of Camas this
day of January,1999
