AN ORDINANCE amending Chapter 10 . 40 of the Camas
Municipal Code designating the Chief of Police with enforcement
authority , providing for the examination of waterborne vessels , and
providing certain definitions .
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMAS DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS .
Section I
There is hereby added to the Camas Municipal Code a new section to provide as follows :
10 . 40 . 155 - Enforcement - The Chief of Police or designee shall have primary enforcement
responsibility for all sections of this chapter . The Chief of Police or designee
shall have the authority to stop and board and vessels subject to this title for the
purpose of inspection or determining compliance herewith and is further
empowered to issue a summons for appearance under this title or other provisions
of law or to arrest violators and impound vessels where necessary to carry out the
purposes hereof.
Section II
There is hereby added to the Camas Municipal Code a new -Section to provide as follows :
10 . 40 . 157 - Examination of Eauibment - No person shall , while operating or in charge of a
vessel , refuse to permit a peace officer to make an examination of any equipment
of such vessel required by law .
Section III
There is hereby added to Camas Municipal Code Section 10 . 40 . 010 a new subsection to
provide as follows :
10 . 40 . 010 - Definitions - "Authorized Emergency Vessel " means those vessels of the City ,
identified with insignia of the City of Camas
Police or Fire Department marked or
Police or Fire Department ,
Section IV
Camas Municipal Code Section 10 . 40 . 160 is hereby amended to provide as follows :
10 . 40 . 160 - Penalty - Violation of Sections 10 . 40 . 020 , 10 . 40 . 050 , 10 . 40 . 060 , 10 . 40 . 110 , and
10 . 40 . 135D shall constitute a misdemeanor , and upon conviction thereof shall be
punished by a fine not exceeding $ 1 , 000 . 00 or by imprisonment for a period not
to exceed 90 days , or by both such fine and imprisonment . All other violations of
the regulations of this chapter shall constitute a civil infraction punishable by a
fine of not more than $ 250 . 00 .
Section V
This ordinance shall take force and be in effect five ( 5 ) days from and after its publication
according to law .
