ORD 2279 ORDINANCE NO .
AN ORDINANCE reenacting Ordinance No . 2210 , and
amending Section 13 . 36 . 070 of the Camas Municipal Code , by
revising the utility charges for government services .
WHEREAS , on July 26 , 1999 , the City Council enacted Ordinance No . 2210 , which in part
increased the fees for water and sewer utility services used by certain governmental agencies , and
WHEREAS , Washington voters have approved Initiative 722 , which in part invalidates all
rax and fee increases adopted by local governments between July 2 , 1999 , and December 31 , 1999 ,
and
WHEREAS , several cities have filed suit challenging the constitutionality of Initiative 722 ,
and
WHEREAS , due to the uncertainty surrounding the passage of Initiative 722 and legal
challenges thereto , the City Council desires to reenact the increases in utility charges for certain
governmental agencies ,
NOW , THEREFORE , THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMAS DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS :
Section I
Ordinance . No . 2210 , which increased the fees for water and sewer utility services used by
certain governmental agencies , is hereby reenacted , confirmed and ratified effective January 1 ,
2000 .
Section II
Section 13 . 36 . 030 of the Camas Municipal Code is amended to provide as follows .
13 . 3 6 . 03 0 - Combination of Residential and Commercial Classes . Where a single
service is provided to a combination of residential and commercial classes , the
residential rate shall be charged for all water service . The charge for sewer service
shall consist of one residential sewer charge plus commercial sewer consumption .
Commercial sewer consumption shall be equal to the consumption of water used .
Section III
Section 13 . 36 . 070 of the Camas Municipal Code is amended to provide as follows :
13 . 3 6 . 070 - Utili1y Charge Governmental Users . The following designated
governmental users shall pay for water and sewer utilities as follows :
a . Rental by the Camas Fire Department of all fire hydrants within the City
of Camas shall be $ 900 . 00 per month .
b . Rental of fire hydrants outside the limits of the City of Camas by any
other municipality or fire district shall be $ 10 . 00 per month per hydrant .

c . All other utility services for governmental users shall be charged at the
regular meter rate .
Section IV
If any section , clause or phrase of this ordinance is declared unconstitutional or invalid for
any reason , such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of the ordinance .
Section V
This ordinance shall take force and be in effect five ( 5 ) days from and after its publication
according to law .
