ORD 2459 ORDINANCE NO ,
AN ORDINANCE adding a new Chapter 2 . 94 authorizing the
Chief of Police to appoint a Code Compliance Officer with limited
law enforcement powers .
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMAS DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS
Section I
A new Chapter 2 . 94 of the Camas Municipal Code to be entitled " Code Compliance
Officer " is hereby added to provide as follows .
2 . 94 . 010 Position Created .
There is hereby created in the Police Department the position of Code Compliance
Officer , which shall be a City employee who has been granted a limited law
enforcement or police commission by the Chief of Police and shall be under the
supervision of the Chief of Police or designee . The Code Compliance Officer
shall be a civil service position , and shall not be entitled to participate in the Law
Enforcement Officers and Firefighters Retirement System .
2 . 94 . 020 Duties ,
The Code Compliance Officer shall have the following duties and responsibilities :
a) To investigate and enforce the provisions of the Camas Municipal Code ,
with the exception of the criminal offenses as described in Title 9 .
b ) Investigate and enforce State and local animal control laws .
c ) Respond to citizen complaints and reports from other agencies and
departments on alleged violations of City zoning and related municipal
codes , including substandard structures , zoning violations , debris ,
unsanitary conditions , and abandoned or inoperative vehicles .
d) Inspect single family homes , apartment buildings , businesses and vacant
ith City zoning and health and safety
lots to ensure compliance w
requirements .
e ) Interpret and explain municipal codes and ordinances to members of the
general public , contractors , business owners and other interested
groups .
f) To perform such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from
time to time by the Chief of Police or designee .
2 . 94 . 030 Compensation .
The salary of the Code Compliance Officer shall be as that as established in the
Official Pay Plan of the City pursuant to Section 2 . 64 . 020 of this code . The Code
Compliance Officer shall receive retirement benefits as provided by Chapter 2 . 60
of this code , vacation and other leave benefits as provided by Chapter 2 . 68 , and
medical , life and other insurance benefits as provided by Chapter 2 . 72 ,
Section II
This ordinance shall talire force and be in effect five ( 5 ) days from and after its publication
according to law .
