AN ORDINANCE restricting heavy truck traffic on NW
Deerfern Avenue from NW 18th to 3 00 ' south of NW 14th .
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMAS DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
Section I
The Council makes the following findings with respect to heavy truck usage on NW
Deerfern Avenue from NW 18th Avenue to 300 ' south of NW 14th Avenue .
a . Long term truck usage of Deerfern Avenue by construction vehicles from the
Grand Ridge subdivision will adversely impact the neighborhood safety and livability .
b . The pavement of Deerfern Avenue was designed as a residential street and not
for heavy truck loads from the Grand Ridge development .
c . Alternative routes exist for truck traffic other than the use of the above -
described roadways for the Grand Ridge subdivision construction traffic . SE Brady Road accesses
Grand Ridge Subdivision and is classified as a minor arterial .
Section II
It shall be unlawful for any person , firm , partnership , corporation or other entity to operate
or allow to be operated a motor vehicle which exceeds thirty - five thousand ( 35 , 000 ) pounds gross
vehicle weight , whether or not loaded or licensed for such weight , on that portion of NW Deerfern
between NW 18th to 300 ' south of NW 14th Avenue . The restrictions set forth herein shall not
apply to vehicles which are in the process of making a delivery or a pickup within the boundaries
stated above . Said restrictions shall also not apply to any vehicles which are required to access the
above - stated areas for emergency , sanitary , maintenance , or other public purposes .
Section III
The director of Public Works for the City of Camas is hereby authorized and directed to
erect signs informing the public and users of said streets of the restrictions on heavy truck traffic .
Section IV
If probable cause exists to believe that a violation of this ordinance has or is occurring ,
then any duly commissioned police officer may require the driver of said vehicle to proceed to the
nearest available weigh scales for the purpose of weighing said vehicle .

Section V
Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall be guilty of committing a traffic
infraction , and upon being found to have committed such infraction shall be assessed a monetary
penalty not exceeding the sum of $ 250 . 00 . Each time a vehicle is used contrary to the provisions
of this ordinance shall constitute a separate offense within the meaning of this ordinance .
Section VI
This ordinance shall take force and be in effect five ( 5 ) days from and after its publication
according to law .
