ORD 2177 ORDINANCE NO .
AN ORDINANCE repealing Ordinance 1684 and Sections
9 . 24 . 140 , 9 . 24 . 150 , and 9 . 24 . 160 of the Camas Municipal Code
which adopted a curfew for minors during specified hours in the
downtown core area and the Crown Park area .
WHEREAS , by Ordinance No . 1684 , the Council adopted a curfew on minors during
designated hours in the downtown core area and the Crown Park area , and
WHEREAS , the curfew adopted was designed to address specific problems occurring in
the downtown core area and at Crown Park , and
WHEREAS , the problems that lead to the adoption of the curfew no longer exist , and the
curfew is no longer required to control such problems , and
WHEREAS , recent decisions of the Washington State Court of Appeals and the Ninth
Circuit Court of Appeals cast doubt as to whether the curfew ordinance can withstand a
constitutional challenge , and
WHEREAS , the council desires to repeal the curfew ordinance ,
NOW , THEREFORE , THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMAS DO ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS :
Section I
Ordinance No . 1684 and Sections 9 . 24 . 140 , 9 . 24 . 150 , and 9 . 24 . 160 of the Camas
Municipal Code are hereby repealed .
Section II
This ordinance shall take force and be in effect five ( 5 ) days from and after its publication
according to law .
