AN ORDINANCE restricting heavy truck traffic on NW 16th
Avenue from NW Tidland Street to NW Brady Road , on NW
Tidland Street from NW 16th Avenue to NW 18th Avenue , and on
NW 18th Avenue from NW Tidland Street to the west city limits .
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMAS DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
Section I
The Council makes the following findings with respect to heavy truck usage on NW 16th
Avenue from NW Tidland Street to NW Brady Road , on NW Tidland Street from NW 16th
Avenue to NW 18th Avenue , and on NW 181h Avenue from NW Tidland Street to the west city
limits :
a . The 90 - degree corners at NW Tidland Street and NW 18th Avenue , and at NW
Tidland Street and NW 16th Avenue have limited sight distance and require heavy trucks to enter
the oncoming lanes of traffic in order to negotiate the turns .
b . The condition of the pavement at the above locations is poor , and removal of
heavy truck traffic will extend the life of the pavement .
c . Alternative routes exist for truck traffic other than the use of the above -
described roadways .
Section II
It shall be unlawful for any person , firm , partnership , corporation or other entity to operate
or allow to be operated a motor vehicle which exceeds thirty- five thousand ( 35 , 000 ) pounds gross
vehicle weight , whether or not loaded or licensed for such weight , on that portion of NW 16th
Avenue between NW Tidland Street and NW Brady Road , and that portion of NW Tidland Street
between NW 16 ' Avenue and NW 18th Avenue , and on that portion of NW 18th Avenue from NW
Tidland Street to the west city limits . The restrictions set forth herein shall not apply to vehicles
which are in the process of making a delivery or a pickup within the boundaries stated above .
Said restrictions shall also not apply to any vehicles which are required to access the above - stated
areas for emergency , sanitary , maintenance , or other public purposes .
Section III
The director of Public Works for the City of Camas is hereby authorized and directed to
erect signs informing the public and users of said streets of the restrictions on heavy truck traffic .

Section IV
If probable cause exists to believe that a violation of this ordinance has or is occurring ,
then any duly commissioned police officer may require the driver of said vehicle to proceed to the
nearest available weigh scales for the purpose of weighing said vehicle .
Section V
Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall be guilty of committing a traffic
infraction , and upon being found to have committed such infraction shall be assessed a monetary
penalty not exceeding the sum of $ 250 . 00 . Each time as vehicle is used contrary to the provisions
of this ordinance shall constitute a separate offense within the meaning of this ordinance .
Section VI
This ordinance shall take force and be in effect five ( 5 ) days from and after its publication
according to law ..
