ORD 2087 ORDINANCE NO .
AN ORDINANCE amending the City of Camas
boating ordinance by adopting regulations for
seaplanes .
Section I
There is hereby added to Section I of Ordinance No . 2081 a new subsection to provide as
follows :
" Seaplane " means any aircraft , including those commonly referred to as ultralights , used or
designed for landing and or taking off from bodies of water .
Section II
There is hereby added to Ordinance No . 2081 a new section to provide as follows :
Seaplanes
1 . It shall be unlawful for any person to taxi a seaplane in excess of twelve
( 12 ) miles per hour on the named waters of the City of Camas except during training ,
takeoff and landing , or when safe and prudent operation requires otherwise . Seaplanes
shall not exceed a slow , no - wake speed within 100 feet of any shoreline , pier , breakwater ,
person in the water , boat launch , log sorting area , or established moorage , regardless of the
speed otherwise authorized on a particular body of water .
2 . Seaplanes operating on the waters of the City of Camas shall maintain a
minimum of 200eet of lateral separation between the seaplane and other- vessels except
when safety cor ,' 6rat * ons for the seaplane and / or other vessels make a smaller lateral
separation prudent .
3 . Seaplanes shall take off and land at least 500 feet from shore except
when safety considerations and lateral separation from other vessels require otherwise .
4 . Seaplane operators shall not wilfully fail or refuse to comply with the
direction of a peace officer who is at the time discharging the duty of regulating and
directing waterborne traffic .
Section III
This ordinance shall take force and be in effect five ( 5 ) days from and after its publication
according to law .
