AN ORDINANCE authorizing the Public Works Director
to prohibit or restrict motor vehicular traffic on
city streets during periods of inclement weather .
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CAMAS DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
Section I
There is hereby added to Chapter 10 . 32 of the Camas Municipal
Code a new section to provide as follows :
10 . 32 . 170 - Closure of City Streets - - Weather Conditions .
The Public Works Director is hereby authorized to prohibit
the operation of motor vehicles on the streets of the
City of Camas , or to impose weight restrictions on motor
vehicles used in such streets , whenever any street by
reason of snow , rain , climatic , or other conditions may
be damaged or destroyed unless operation of motor vehicles
thereon is prohibited or restricted . In the event the
operation of motor vehicles is prohibited or restricted
on a city street which is also part of the route of any
primary state highway through the city , such prohibition
or restriction shall be first approved by the Department
of Transportation .
Section II
There is hereby added to Chapter 10 . 32 of the Camas Municipal
Code a new section to provide as follows :
10 . 32 . 175 - Exceptions .
In the event the Public Works Director prohibits the
operation of motor vehicles on any city street under
the authority of Section 10 . 32 . 170 , such prohibition
shall not apply to school buses , emergency vehicles ,
and motor vehicles transporting perishable commodities
or commodities necessary for the health and welfare of
local residents , provided however , this exception shall
not be deemed to prevent the Public Works Director from
imposing such weight and speed restrictions as may be
necessary to protect the public street from undue damage .
Section III
There is hereby added to Chapter 10 . 32 of the Camas Municipal
Code a new section to provide as follows :
10 . 32 . 180 - Notice
In the event the Public Works Director prohibits the
operation of motor vehicles on any street of the City
of Camas or imposes weight restrictions on motor vehicles
using any street of the City of Camas under the authority
of Section 10 . 32 . 170 , the Public Works Director shall erect
or cause to be erected and maintained signs designating
such prohibition or weight restriction .

Section IV
There is hereby added to Chapter 10 . 32 of the Camas Municipal
Code a new section to provide as follows :
10 . 32 . 185 - Penalty
Any person violating Section 10 . 32 . 170 shall be guilty
of committing a traffic infraction , and upon being found
to have committed such infraction shall be assessed a
monetary penalty not exceeding the sum of $ 250 . 00 . Each
time a vehicle is used contrary to the provisions of
said Section shall constitute a separate offense within
the meaning of this Chapter .
Section V
This ordinance shall take force and be in effect five ( 5 )
days from and after its publication according to law .
