RES 1246RESOLUTION NO.PV^7
A RESOLUTION regarding the acquisition of real property to
reconstruct 5.3 miles of water transmission line,and to construct a
water treatment plant.
WHEREAS,the City of Camas Municipal Water System sources its water from the Jones
Creek and Boulder Creek Watershed ;and
WHEREAS,the water treatment plant is currently located just north of the bridge
connecting Lacamas Lake and Round Lake;and
WHEREAS,the City desires to have a water treatment plant closer to the water source;
and
WHEREAS,the City has determined that it is necessary to acquire 12 acres for such
water treatment plant;and
WHEREAS,the City has further determined that there is a 12 acre site owned by
Longview Timberlands LLC that is suitable for the City's intended use as a water treatment
facility site;and
WHEREAS,the City has the power of condemnation under RCW 8.12.030 to acquire
real property within or without the limits of the City for the purpose of constructing and
maintaining aqueducts,reservoirs,pumping stations and other structures for conveying into and
through such City a supply of fresh water and for the purpose of protecting such supply of fresh
water from pollution;and
WHEREAS,the City has entered into negotiations with Longview Timberlands,LLC,for
the acquisition of the real property in question.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAMAS AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I
In the event that the City is unable to negotiate the purchase from Longview Timberlands
LLC of the real property necessary for the water treatment facility,then City staff is instructed to
prepare the necessary Ordinance containing a statement of public necessity,describing the land
proposed to be condemned and the purpose of the condemnation,and setting forth whether the
compensation will be paid by special assessment upon the property benefited or from the general
fund .
