RES 865RESOLUTION NO .
A RESOLUTION of the council of the City of Camas regarding
the acquisition of land in Grass Valley for the construction of a fire
station.
WHEREAS,the City has extended its boundaries to include the Grass Valley and Prune
Hill areas located in the western section of the City,and
WHEREAS,at the time of annexation,Grass Valley and Prune Hill were largely
undeveloped,and the City was able to provide adequate fire protection with its existing facilities,
and
WHEREAS,since annexation there has been significant residential development on
Prune Hill and light industrial development in Grass Valley,and
WHEREAS,the City’s council has determined that it is necessary to construct a second
fire station to serve this area,and
WHEREAS,the City has included a new fire station in the Grass Valley area in its
Capital Facilities Plan,and has adopted fire impact fees to finance part of the anticipated costs of
acquisition and construction,and
WHEREAS,the City has selected a three-acre site on property owned by MacKay and
MacDonald,and has entered into negotiations for its purchase,and
WHEREAS,the site in question satisfies the City’s needs in that it is centrally located in
Grass Valley,abuts an arterial roadway,and allows for prompt response to the newly developed
areas,and
WHEREAS,the City has already invested considerable time and money into appraisals
and site evaluation,and
WHEREAS,it is in the best interest of the City and the promotion of the public safety
and welfare to proceed with the acquisition of this parcel ,
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CAMAS AS FOLLOWS :
1.The Public Works Director and City Attorney are authorized and directed to proceed
with negotiations for the purchase of this site.The terms negotiated shall be subject to approval
of the City of Camas.

2.If the City has not entered into a binding Real Estate Purchase and Sale Agreement by
January 31,1999,then the City Attorney is instructed to draft an ordinance to initiate
condemnation proceedings.It is expected that such an ordinance will be brought to the council
for its consideration no later than the regular meeting scheduled for February 22,1999.
