Volunteer Firefighter Interest Form

  • The Camas-Washougal Fire Department accepts applications of interest for the position of volunteer firefighter throughout the year. In January, each registered individual will receive (via email) an application packet to complete. In February, the department will administer a written and physical agility test to qualified individuals. Those who pass the tests are interviewed, and the top 4-6 candidates are sent for a medical evaluation, background check, and fingerprinting. Candidates who successfully complete the background and physical are put through a 12 week training academy (Wednesday nights from 6pm-9pm, and Saturdays 8am-5pm). An additional 3 weekend Hazardous materials class is added at the end of the academy.

  • Expectations of new volunteers:

    • Ride out with staff a minimum of 24 hours per month
    • Complete Emergency Medical Technician certification within one year
    • Attend monthly Medical Training (First Wednesday of the month from 7pm-9pm)
    • Attend monthly Volunteer Association Business Meeting (Second Wednesday of the month at 7pm)
    • Attend Monthly fire drill (Third Wednesday of the month from 6:30pm-9pm)
    • Participate in community and public education events as needed.
